Kilometa support

Open the Drive tab and tap Start Drive before you leave. The app measures the distance with GPS and draws your route. When you arrive, tap End Drive in the app or on your Lock Screen. Then pick a category, like Business or Private.

Yes. Once you start a drive, the app keeps counting kilometres in the background. That includes when your phone is locked or you're using Maps. You'll see the blue location indicator while it's recording. It stops when the drive ends. Using GPS in the background does use more battery, so it's worth charging your phone on long trips.

If your car hasn't moved for a few minutes, the app sends a notification asking if your drive is over. You can tap End & Save right from the notification. Make sure notifications are on in Settings › Kilometa › Notifications.

Yes. On the Drive tab, tap Log a Trip. Search for the start and end address and the app gets the distance and travel time from Apple Maps. You can also type the details in yourself.

Yes. Add each car in the Garage tab. When you record or add a trip, it's saved against the car you drove.

Kilometa is designed to help you keep a logbook for the ATO logbook method. It records the date, odometer readings, kilometres and purpose of each trip, and works out your business use percentage.

But it's a record keeping tool, not tax advice, and I can't guarantee your logbook will be accepted. You're responsible for making sure your entries are right. Check the ATO's rules or ask your tax agent what you can claim.

Go to the Logbook tab and tap the share icon. Pick PDF for a printable logbook with a business use summary. Or pick CSV to open it in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. Then email it, save it to Files or AirDrop it.

Your logbook is only stored on your iPhone. I don't keep a copy. It's normally included in your iCloud or computer backup, and it comes across when you set up a new phone from that backup. To be safe, export a PDF or CSV every so often, especially at the end of the financial year. If you delete the app, your logbook is deleted too.

Check that Settings › Kilometa › Live Activities is turned on. The Dynamic Island only shows on iPhone models that have one.

Your drives, routes and cars are saved on your iPhone and aren't sent to me. The Kilometa Privacy Policy explains everything the app uses and the choices you have.
